Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Thuc Hien - Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee - acknowledged the outstanding results that the City Union of Friendship Organizations has achieved in the first 6 months of the year, especially the mobilization of foreign non-governmental aid has achieved many results, bringing many benefits to the community, contributing to the city's social security.
Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee suggested that in the coming time, the Union of Friendship Organizations and Member Friendship Associations should continue to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement Directive 12-CT/TW dated January 5th, 2022 of the Secretariat on strengthening the leadership of the Party, improving the effectiveness of people-to-people diplomacy in the new situation; Directive 38-CT/TW dated September 19th, 2019 of the Secretariat on continuing to innovate, promote the role and improve the quality and operational efficiency of the Union of Friendship Organizations in the new situation. Continue to consolidate and further improve the operational efficiency of 21 Member Friendship Associations, well implement the motto "proactive, flexible, creative, effective", considering this as a key task throughout the activities of the Union. Continue to proactively coordinate closely with departments and agencies to advise and propose policies to make people-to-people diplomacy activities to be increasingly innovative, effective and worthy of Can Tho city as the center of the Mekong Delta.
In addition, the Friendship Union and its Member Friendship Associations need to continue to consolidate and develop friendly relationships and cooperation with countries, strategic partners, comprehensive partners and traditional friends. ASSIST is an international non-governmental and non-profit organization, located in Vietnam and has begun implementing social and environmental projects in Vietnam since 2007. One of the focus areas of ASSIST Vietnam is skills development, job creation for young people, including women. In nearly 20 years of operation, ASSIST has implemented more than 300 projects and impacted more than 1 million people through various projects. The " Excellent training center" project is organized by Schneider Electric/France Company in Vietnam (a multinational company specializing in providing solutions for green energy and automation) through the ASSIST organization in Vietnam. The project aims to help improve electricity, green and smart skills, as well as job opportunities for young people and women through capacity building for teachers through high-quality centers and vocational training centers in Vietnam; enabling young people, including women, to have the skills to meet the need for certified electrical technicians, green electricians and smart skills; create job and start-up opportunities for young people, including women; provide vocational skills and new job opportunities for youth unemployed because of COVID-19; establish a platform that can connect the needs of the industry and certified technicians. It is known that the budget source to implement the above project is 30,000 Euro/aid package; In which, ASSIST on behalf of the Schneider Foundation sponsor commits to sponsor 20,000 Euro/package through equipment sponsorship; At the same time, the schools provide a counterpart of 10,000 Euro/package to contribute to this aid package. Each school can receive 1 or 2 aid packages depending on needs, so the total budget will be officially agreed in the project document submitted to the competent authority for approval. The main activities of the project include: Equipping a practice room on green electricity or automation. The schools will offer market-oriented “Green Electricians and Industry 4.0” courses tailored to the needs of the industry. The lecturers of the schools will be trained by foreign experts on how to use the equipment in the training room as well as provide the curriculum for students. Students of the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and related faculties will be taught and practiced in a laboratory with equipment funded by Schneider Electric Vietnam.
