During the meeting, the organizing committee recorded 19 opinions with over 40 questions from journalists representing various press agencies. They raised concerns about issues such as the city's economic growth index in the first quarter of 2024, the situation of encroachment on sidewalks for opening food stalls in Ninh Kieu District, the high rate of business dissolution compared to new business establishments, procurement of chemicals, and medical equipment for healthcare services, preferential loan policies and support for overseas workers, the construction progress of canal renovation projects within the city causing subsidence and cracks in some houses, the organization of the opening ceremony for Tran Hoang Na Bridge on April 30th, the shortage of sand for land filling in some key transportation projects, the progress in resolving self-built residential areas, the strengthening of inspections and supervision of counterfeit, fake, and low-quality goods, solutions for residential areas and urban areas lacking infrastructure affecting the living quality of residents, the inspection and management of gold and silver businesses in the area, and the implementation of the sustainable development project of one million hectares for high-quality rice cultivation with low emissions linked to green growth in the Mekong Delta region within the city... Most of the questions raised by journalists were adequately answered by the departments and agencies.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Duong Tan Hien, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee, acknowledged the contributions of the journalist team in providing information and disseminating news, contributing to the continuous achievement of important results in the city's socio-economic situation, meeting the general objectives set, such as maintaining positive growth in GRDP in the first quarter of 2024; many sectors and fields have achieved significant growth compared to the same period, such as state budget revenue increasing by approximately 19%; total retail sales of goods and service revenues increasing by 7.81%; tourist arrivals and tourism increasing by 19%; as of March 31st, public investment disbursement reached 19.3% of the city's plan set by the People's Council.

"These results are the efforts of the entire political system, Party organizations, government authorities, departments, and mass organizations of Can Tho City, including the active contributions in information and propaganda work from 69 local and central press agencies officially operating in the area," emphasized Mr. Duong Tan Hien.

Representatives of departments and agencies answered questions raised by the press at the meeting.

City leaders also stated that in the second quarter of 2024, the city will focus on accelerating the implementation of the socio-economic plan and the state budget estimate, speeding up the disbursement of public investment capital, and fulfilling the tasks assigned in the resolutions of the Central Government. Proactively forecast and implement solutions to promote growth in investment, consumption, and exports, as well as enhance administrative reform and improve the investment and business environment.

In addition, the city will concentrate resources on deploying and expediting key projects and leading projects such as the O Mon II, III, and IV thermal power plants; the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway and the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway; the VSIP Industrial Park project, the Aeon Mall commercial center, the Research Center for Microprocessors and Electronic Chip Manufacturing... Effectively implement the city's master plan, accelerate the progress of tasks and the overall adjustment of the city's general planning, implement solutions to combat drought, saltwater intrusion, and riverbank erosion, improve resource management, environmental protection, and climate change adaptation, and focus on healthcare and improving people's lives...
