During the working session, Mr. Duong Tan Hien shared that Can Tho City has a vision to develop its seaport system to play a central role and be a driving force for regional development. It aims to become an important hub for regional and international transportation. In recent years, Can Tho's seaport has been gradually improving its infrastructure to become a national comprehensive port of type I according to the planned orientation. Currently, the city has more than 21 general cargo, container, and specialized ports, with a cargo throughput of 4.48 million tons per year in 2023, accounting for about 64% of the designed capacity of approximately 7 million tons per year.

Mr. Duong Tan Hien emphasized that the Mekong Delta region is a key agricultural production and export area in Vietnam. However, investment in port and logistics infrastructure to serve the transportation of goods and agricultural exports still faces many difficulties. This is not only to meet the city's development requirements but also to be closely linked to the development of the Mekong Delta region. To develop the Can Tho seaport system, play its central role as a driving force for regional development, and become an important hub for regional and international transportation, the city hopes that the Hamburg city government and the Hamburg Port leadership, with their experience and strengths in the port and logistics field, will connect and introduce investors with the desire and capacity to invest in the development of port infrastructure and logistics system in Can Tho City. Mr. Hien emphasized that the practical experiences shared during the exchange with Hamburg Port will provide useful information to support the vision of Can Tho City's leaders in urban planning and sustainable development for the future.

Hamburg City (Freie und Hansestadt Hamburg) is one of the oldest historical regions in Germany, located on the Elbe River and bordered by Schleswig-Holstein to the north and Sachsen to the south. Hamburg is a state of the Federal Republic of Germany and is one of the major cities in Germany, second only to Berlin. Moreover, it is also known for the Port of Hamburg - the second-largest port in the European Union. Hamburg City has an area of 755.16 km².

The Port of Hamburg is called the "Gateway to the World" of Germany and is the largest port in Germany. It is the second busiest port in Europe (after the Port of Rotterdam) in terms of TEU throughput and the 11th largest in the world. With its favorable natural location on the Elbe River, it creates an ideal place for a port area with warehouses and transportation facilities. The extensive free ports also allow for duty-free transportation (goods can be stored, processed, and transported without customs duties or other trade barriers).

Along with its members, the Hamburg Port Marketing Board is actively operating worldwide to further strengthen its market position. Established in 1985, the association has successfully campaigned to establish Hamburg as a port and logistics hub for almost 40 years. The Port of Hamburg has a positive image worldwide, representing professionalism, efficiency, and innovation. Hamburg Port Marketing Board has a strong presence both domestically and internationally, while maintaining friendly relations with numerous companies in the fields of trade and industry, transport and logistics, trade associations, etc.
