At the meeting, Deputy Director of Can Tho City Department of Education and Training Le Thi Thuy Dung, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for the 2024 High School Graduation Exam, said that Can Tho has 12,887 candidates registered for the 2024 High School Graduation Exam. There are 10,923 students in the 12th grade of high school education, 992 candidates in the 12th grade of continuing education, 54 free candidates who have not graduated from high school, and 918 free candidates who have graduated from high school.

With nearly 13,000 candidates registering for the 2024 High School Graduation Exam, Can Tho City plans to organize 25 official exam locations with 549 exam rooms including Thanh An High School; Vinh Thanh High School, Thot Not High School, Thuan Hung High School, Ha Huy Giap High School, Trung An High School, Thoi Lai High School, Truong Xuan Middle & High School, Luu Huu Phuoc High School, Luong Dinh Cua High School, Thoi Long High School, Bui Huu Nghia High School, Binh Thuy High School, Chau Van Liem High School, Nguyen Viet Hong High School, Phan Ngoc Hien High School, An Khanh High School, Doan Thi Diem Secondary School, Tran Dai Nghia High School, Nguyen Viet Dung High School, Ly Tu Trong High School for the Gifted, Phan Van Tri High School, Giai Xuan Secondary School, Pedagogical Practice High School, An Hoa 2 Secondary School.

In addition, the city plans to arrange 9 backup locations with 204 exam rooms in 9 districts, including Tran Ngoc Que Secondary School (Ninh Kieu District), An Thoi Secondary School (Binh Thuy District), Le Binh Secondary School (Ninh Kieu District). Cai Rang), Chau Van Liem Secondary School (O Mon District), Thot Not Secondary School (Thot Not District), Phong Dien Town Secondary School (Phong Dien District), Thoi Lai Town Secondary School (Thoi Lai District), Co Do Town Secondary School (Co Do district), Vinh Thanh Town Secondary School (Vinh Thanh district).

Deputy Director of Can Tho City Department of Education and Training Le Thi Thuy Dung also mentioned that the Department of Education and Training is taking steps to ensure a smooth and effective 2024 high school graduation exam. This includes inspecting exam preparation at educational institutions, such as reviewing study materials for students, ensuring necessary facilities and equipment are in place at the test sites, and assessing the availability of exam rooms, waiting areas for candidates, tables and chairs, fire prevention and fighting equipment, backup generators, and security cameras.

A representative of Can Tho City Police spoke about the coordination in organizing the 2024 high school graduation exam.

To ensure that candidates' exam registration adheres to regulations, Can Tho City Department of Education and Training has directed educational units to conduct self-inspections. Additionally, 28 teams have been established to cross-check candidates' registration documents, allowing for prompt adjustments and supplements to address any deficiencies.

During the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Thuc Hien, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee and Head of the Steering Committee for the 2024 High School Graduation Exam, expressed his appreciation for the preparation of Can Tho City Department of Education and Training. He also commended the smooth and synchronized coordination among relevant departments, agencies, and organizations in preparing for the exam.

Vice Chairman Nguyen Thuc Hien noted that this year's exam has seen an increase of more than 800 candidates compared to 2023, and the exam will take place one day earlier than in 2023. Additionally, 2024 marks the final year the exam will be held according to the 2006 General Education Program, emphasizing that the exam's goal and significance remain unchanged from previous years.

To ensure the high school graduation exam 2024 is organized in compliance with regulations and safety standards, the official urged members of the Steering Committee to continue promoting awareness of the exam's importance among officials, civil servants, and the public. He also called for proactive development and implementation of plans to coordinate the exam's organization according to each entity's responsibilities. Coordination in organizing the exam should ensure smoothness and clear assignment of tasks and responsibilities.

The Department of Health directs medical facilities to fully prepare essential medical supplies, appropriate drugs, personnel, and facilities to respond to emerging situations promptly. There should also be standing emergency teams ready to meet medical examination and treatment requirements for candidates and exam workers. In addition, Food safety and hygiene of establishments providing food for candidates and exam workers need to be guaranteed. Medical facilities should support educational establishments that have test sites in implementing measures to prevent and control pandemics according to regulations.

The Department of Information and Communications proactively and promptly coordinates with Can Tho City Police to review and address untrue information about the exam in the online environment.

The Department of Transport coordinates with Can Tho City Police and relevant agencies to support and create conditions in the process of transporting exams to ensure convenience and safety. They also implement solutions to ensure traffic safety and prevent traffic jams from affecting the organization of the exam.

Can Tho City Police work with the Department of Education and Training to ensure the security and safety of the 2024 High School Graduation Exam. They will also collaborate with the Department of Transport and the Department of Information and Communications to ensure smooth traffic flow, maintain security and order, ensure social safety, and network security, and prevent fire and explosion.

Can Tho City Inspectorate work with the Department of Education and Training to review the standards and conditions of members of the Exam Steering Committee to ensure compliance with exam regulations. They will also appoint personnel to inspect and check the various stages of the exam according to the plan. Additionally, a hotline will be set up to receive feedback from the public about the exam.

Vice Chairman Nguyen Thuc Hien requests Can Tho Youth Union and People's Committee of Districts to support accommodation, and transportation, and provide free meals for candidates before and during the exam period, especially for those facing difficult circumstances. They will also support traffic management to ensure order and safety and provide guidance and support for candidates and their families regarding travel, meals, and lodging during the exam season.
