The leaders of Can Tho City visited and studied the operational models of some seaports, ICD ports, and logistics centers in Ho Chi Minh City.

(CT) - On the morning of May 4th, in Thu Duc District, Ho Chi Minh City, the Can Tho City working delegation, led by Comrade Nguyen Van Hieu, Alternate member of the Central Party Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, along with Comrade Tran Viet Truong, Chairman of the City People's Committee, and Comrade Duong Tan Hien, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, as well as leaders of departments, boards, sectors, and districts of the city, visited and studied the operational model of the Tan Cang - Cat Lai port under the Saigon Newport Corporation. Colonel Nguyen Nang Toan, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Corporation, presided over the reception of the delegation.

The delegation visited the actual production and business activities, as well as cargo handling operations at Tan Cang - Cat Lai Port, and visited the Production Operations Center and the Port Security Operations Center. During the meeting, Colonel Nguyen Nang Toan provided information to the delegation regarding the results of the military and defense tasks, as well as the production and business activities of the Saigon Newport Corporation. Saigon Newport is currently a large and modern port operator, with its port facilities serving both military and defense tasks, as well as business activities. Saigon Newport proposed that the leaders of Can Tho City continue to pay attention to and coordinate with relevant central agencies to dredge the Dinh An channel on the Hau River, in order for Saigon Newport's port facilities to accommodate large container ships for cargo transportation. At the same time, they expressed the desire for the city's leadership to continue creating favorable conditions for Saigon Newport to expand investment in the field of port operation and logistics services within the city.

Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Nguyen Van Hieu acknowledged the proposals of Saigon Newport Corporation. He also expressed the desire for Saigon Newport Corporation to continue leveraging its strengths and cooperating with Can Tho City in building and developing the port system, facilitating customs clearance of import-export goods in the locality, and connecting the flow of goods from the Can Tho area to major ports in Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau,… contributing to making Can Tho a logistics center in the Mekong Delta region.

* On the same day, the Can Tho City working delegation visited and studied the operational models at Giang Nam Logistics Joint Stock Company and Tanamexco ICD Company Limited (ICD Tanamexco). Giang Nam Logistics is leading the market in inland container depots (ICDs) and owns 3 ICDs with a total area of over 100 hectares. Giang Nam Logistics has a source of goods to connect all deep-water ports in Cai Mep due to direct contracts with shipping lines and ports. They have an ICD system that consolidates goods from factories and industrial zones in the southern region. The company has plans to invest in comprehensive ports and international container terminals in Can Tho, operate break-bulk vessels for rice exports, provide machinery and equipment for factories in the Mekong Delta region, especially the industrial zones being developed in Can Tho City.

ICD Tanamexco is a unit under Tan Nam Production Trading Import-Export Company Limited, directly managed by the 7th Military Region Command. ICD Tanamexco provides services related to container management, handling, reefer container services, repair, and maintenance for all large-scale shipping lines worldwide, connecting from the region to the global market. They also have close relationships and enthusiastic support from seaports in Ho Chi Minh City and deep-water ports in the Cai Mep - Thi Vai area. The company's warehouse system covers an area of over 8,000 square meters, ensuring safe storage of goods and providing efficient logistics services for domestic and international customers.

During the visits, Comrade Nguyen Van Hieu affirmed that Can Tho City is making efforts to attract investment in the port, ICD, logistics infrastructure, and port-related services. Relevant departments and agencies in the city need to learn from the experience of developing ports and logistics infrastructure, thereby enhancing administrative procedure reforms and actively advising the city in effectively attracting and inviting enterprises and investors in the logistics field to invest in Can Tho City in the near future.
