On March 17, the Mekong Delta Tourism Promotion Conference took place in Beijing, China. This event is part of the 2025 tourism promotion program for the Mekong Delta in China.
The conference provides an opportunity for provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta to collaborate in promoting their destinations and expanding their international visitor markets. Can Tho's tourism offerings focus on eco-tourism and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism—key segments of the Mekong Delta, alongside river-based experiences, cultural heritage exploration, and leisure tourism. Through this effort, the region aims to enhance the branding of the "Mekong Delta" tourism identity to partners and travelers in China, a nation with a population exceeding one billion.
The Mekong Delta, situated at the lower reaches of the Mekong River, spans approximately 40,000 square kilometers, making it an ideal destination for eco-tourism, fruit orchards, and river-based experiences. Additionally, the region boasts significant potential for coastal tourism, with a coastline stretching over 700 kilometers.

Attracting visitors from the world’s most populous nation is expected to significantly contribute to the region’s tourism growth strategy.
