The temple was built in the early days when the Chinese community set foot in the Can Tho area. At first, the temple was built on the ground, the wall made of leaves. The temple has undergone many restorations to be as spacious as it is today. In front of the temple yard is a statue of Avalokiteshvara about 1 meter high, facing the river; Under the Buddha statue is a statue of the Red Boy about 0.2 meters high.

Behind the statue is the altar of God's Blessing - ie the Jade Emperor or the God in the concept of the Chinese people in Can Tho. "According to Taoism, The Heavenly Official, together with The Earthly Official and The Water Official, are called The Three Great Emperor-Officials, are the gods who are the masters of the world's fortune,... The Three Officials belief originates from the worship of Heaven, Earth, and Water, which is very popular in our country, so it can easily be integrated into folk religious traditions, especially the ritual of worshiping on the three big full moon days of the year: Upper Yuan (January's full moon), Middle Yuan (July's full moon) and Lower Yuan (October's full moon)"(1).

The temple is built with a flat roof, in front, there is a slightly raised roof. The roof is covered with pipe tiles and fish scale tiles. On the roof, there is a picture of "Two Dragons Fighting For a Pearl". Around the roof, there is also a statue of the Moon - Sun gods, each standing on one side. Right in front of the temple door, the temple door had two rows of tall columns used to support the rising roof, the body of the column was embossed with the image of two dragons winding around the column. Above the dragon's head is a sign painted in crimson color, on which are embossed three Chinese characters: Xietian Temple, above in the top right corner there are two small characters Thanh My. On the temple door, there is also a similar board, but the bottom has the Qilin drawing on both sides, and above the board is a drawing of a dragon boat with eight people on it, simulating the legend tale of Eight Immortals Crossing the River. On both sides of the front wall are countless drawings decorated by ancient artists for the temple, with legends and stories of the Twenty-four Filial Exemplars. The door of the temple is made of famous wood with the closing style with a blocking tree. On the door are pictures of two Door Gods.

In front of the main hall is the oculus to get light for the temple. The two sides are the entrance to the east and west corridors. The main hall is divided into three compartments. The nave worships Guan Gong - the symbolic god of the spirit of respect for humanity, loyalty, mutual suffering, poverty does not change heart, wealth does not change will, and in all circumstances remain one-hearted only. Worshiping Guan Sheng deeply understood is not just the personal worship of Guan Yu in the Three Kingdoms period. The highlight is worshiping Guan Gong to remind the brotherly relationship and helping each other (2). Guan Gong statue about 0.2 meter high is placed in the middle of the altar. On both sides of Guan Gong are statues of Guan Ping and Zhou Cang. The left compartment (viewed from the outside) is the altar of Cai Bo Xing Jun - the Chinese god of wealth. On the right is the altar of Mazu - formerly considered a sea goddess with merits to help fishermen and merchants in their livelihood. Statues of Cai Bo Xing Jun and Mazu are also placed on the altar, each statue's height is about 0.2 meters. In front of the main hall, there are also diaphragms and couplets such as courage of mountains and rivers; heart like the sun; long live for thousand years…

Every year, Thanh My Xietian Temple has worshiping on the full moon of January, the feast of Mazu on the 23rd day of the third lunar month, Guan Gong ceremony on April 26 of the lunar calendar, Guan Ping ceremony on May 13 of the lunar calendar, Zhongyuan Festival on full moon day of 7th lunar month, full moon day of 10th lunar month. In the feast of Masu or the ceremony of Guan Gong, the temple invites many guests to attend as well as a large number of people coming to the temple. The annual festival at Thanh My Xietian Temple is a festival of local people, aiming to tighten the solidarity of villages and express the spirit of mutual affection in the community.
