Date: 07/07/2024

Binh Thuy District People's Committee and other agencies have recently worked with Con Son Agricultural Tourism Cooperative, Area 1, Bui Huu Nghia Ward on initiatives to develop unique products and services to attract tourists.
Tourists experience making Southern folk cakes at Son Islet.

The Con Son Agricultural Tourism Cooperative comprises 19 members and several affiliated households, working together to provide food, and accommodation for tourists. Con Son Agricultural Tourism Cooperative creates jobs for 250 workers. Currently, the cooperative has 60 active tour guides catering to tourists. On average, the cooperative welcomes around 400 tourists per day. After one year, the number of visitors has increased by 20% compared to the previous year, leading to a 45% increase in revenue.

To effectively operate and attract more tourists in the future, Con Son Agricultural Tourism Cooperative is seeking local support for various issues. These issues include ensuring a proper sound and lighting system, maintaining security and order, and taking steps to obtain OCOP product recognition. Additionally, the cooperative would appreciate support for foreign accommodation activities. There is also a request to organize a meeting for potential investors to present plans for building activities such as creating a skit about the people and the landscape of Con Son in the new day. Furthermore, the cooperative is interested in organizing a market with 10 booths displaying typical products of the islet. Other requests involve facilitating international students' experiences in dining and lodging on Son Islet with the local people and teaching them English for tourism. Finally, there is a need to invest in electric vehicles, water games, and the construction of new roads to contribute to the further development of Son Islet.

Mr. Nguyen Van Khanh, Vice Chairman of Binh Thuy District People's Committee, agreed on several cooperative activities to be carried out soon and asked relevant sectors to address the cooperative's requests within their authority.

He also recommended that functional agencies regularly provide training for cooperatives on community tourism activities. Additionally, they should arrange tours for cooperatives to learn from the experiences of other cooperatives and localities with effective tourism service models. Lastly, the cooperative should regularly update its operations and customer service methods to create attractive tourist attractions.
