Scholarships worth over 4.2 billion VND for Lao students studying in Can Tho

Leaders of Nam Can Tho University awarded scholarships worth over 4.2 billion VND for Lao students studying abroad at the university during the visit of Lao Deputy Minister of Education and Sports Samlane Phankhavong in Can Tho on July 12.
Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Chairman of the Council of Nam Can Tho University, presented the scholarship sponsorship decision to Lao Deputy Minister of Education and Sports Samlane Phankhavong.

The meeting had the presence of Khamtan Somvong, Counselor for Culture and Education – Embassy of the Lao PDR in Vietnam; Lienseng Phengsavath, Deputy Consul General of Laos in Da Nang; Lonphanh Phaudavanh, Deputy Consul General of Laos in Ho Chi Minh City; Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Chairman of the Council of Nam Can Tho University; Dr. Nguyen Van Quang, Principal of Nam Can Tho University.

At the reception, Nam Can Tho University awarded 10 scholarships for Lao students studying abroad at Nam Can Tho University. The scholarships will be available for General Medicine, Pharmacy, Construction Engineering, Automotive Engineering Technology, and Information Technology. The scholarships are worth over 4.2 billion VND, including tuition, dormitory costs, living allowance, and fees for Lao students studying Vietnamese.

Dr. Samlane Phankhavong, Deputy Minister of Education and Sports of Lao PDR, thanked the leaders of Nam Can Tho University for creating favorable conditions for Lao international students to study at the school.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Van Quang, Principal of Nam Can Tho University, believed that these scholarships would help alleviate some difficulties and provide support and encouragement for Lao students. He encouraged these students to strive for improvement in their studies, thus contributing to the development of their homeland, making it more prosperous and beautiful. Dr. Nguyen Van Quang also believed that this activity would further strengthen the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

Dr. Samlane Phankhavong, Deputy Minister of Education and Sports of Lao PDR, expressed gratitude to the leaders of Nam Can Tho University for their support and for creating favorable conditions for Lao international students to study and practice at the school. He emphasized that this support is not only material but also provides great spiritual comfort to help Lao international students overcome difficulties in life.

Representatives of Nam Can Tho University received the Lao delegation led by Lao Deputy Minister of Education and Sports Samlane Phankhavong on July 12.

Lao Deputy Minister of Education and Sports Samlane Phankhavong stated that to ensure input quality, the Lao Ministry of Education and Sports will select students with good learning and training results. These students should meet the standards for selection to study abroad under Lao Government scholarships and foreign scholarships, as well as fulfilling the criteria set by the school. Dr.  Samlane Phankhavong also expressed his hope that Laotian students studying at Nam Can Tho University will constantly strive for professional learning, practice good ethics and manners, and actively engage in cultural exchange activities. This, he believes, will contribute to fostering the special solidarity and friendship between the two countries.
