Date: 05/06/2024

Summer is also the peak season for tourism. In addition to choosing a destination, preparing for a trip is also important. In the market, at supermarkets, and fashion stores, businesses don't miss the opportunity to cater to this demand.

Every year, around early May, Ms. Nguyen Huynh Ngoc Thao's family in Ninh Kieu district starts planning their summer trips. Ms. Thao says, "I start preparing early for each trip. Along with choosing a tour, booking accommodations, and purchasing tickets, preparing clothing and other essentials for the trip is also crucial. The market offers a wide variety of goods, and with many discount programs and promotions, preparation becomes easier."

In shopping centers and supermarkets, customers can already feel the summer atmosphere through the displays of summer goods. Products such as suitcases, beach towels, neck pillows, shorts, swimwear, shoes, and bags are beautifully decorated and diverse, accompanied by discounts and promotions of up to 50%.

Since around March, most major domestic women's fashion brands such as Elise, Nem, IVY moda, SIXDO, have been introducing new collections for the summer. Due to the hot weather in various regions of the country, the priority for fashion designs is lightweight and breathable materials. The majority of the collections use materials such as silk, chiffon, lace, linen, with vibrant colors. Solid bright colors or large floral patterns continue to be the trend for this summer's fashion. Particularly, the designs of these brands are minimalist, creating highlights with folds, innovative waistlines with large flowers made by beautiful fabric. Some collections have a vintage touch, featuring bows, ruffles, bustier dresses/tops, pinafore dresses, baby doll dresses, vintage skirts, shorts, blouses with ruffled straps, t-shirts, etc. The prices range from VND 690,000 to VND 6,990,000 per item, depending on the brand. Most brands have promotional programs, offering discounts of 10-30% or cumulative discounts on the total bill for customers.

At general fashion stores located on Nguyen Viet Hong, Nguyen Trai, 30 Thang 4, Mau Than, 3 Thang 2, Tran Hung Dao streets, summer dresses and clothing items are abundant on the shelves. Although the quality may not be as good or sophisticated as designer brands, the prices of these outfits are affordable and the styles and materials are diverse. Especially, there are "imitation" models that closely resemble those of major fashion brands worldwide, making them a popular choice, especially among young people. According to the retail points, most products come from domestic garment factories, some are imported from Guangzhou (China) and Thailand. The prices here are quite affordable, ranging from VND 135,000 to VND 415,000 per shirt, VND 175,000 to VND 650,000 per dress, and prices of long jeans, shorts, and shirts range from VND 115,000 to VND 430,000 per item...

With regards to swimwear fashion, according to a survey, this year's swimwear styles and prices have not changed much. For women, there are two designs available: two-piece (bikini) or one-piece; for men, there are swim trunks. The swimwear is mainly made of thick stretchy fabric, with vibrant colors from brands like Bikini Passport, Hanh, Xuan Thu... The average price ranges from 85,000 to 520,000 Vietnamese dong per set for women's swimwear and 75,000 to 350,000 Vietnamese dong per piece for men's swim trunks. Other beach accessories such as goggles, floats, hats, and waterproof bags for electronic devices are also prepared for these trips, with prices ranging from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese dong per item.

Most hats available on the market are domestically produced and made from materials like cotton, canvas, jeans, with prices ranging from 145,000 to 2,500,000 Vietnamese dong per piece. Styles include small brimmed hats or baseball caps, half-head hats with prices ranging from 120,000 to 850,000 Vietnamese dong per piece, depending on the brand. For children, parents can choose sun hats (with wide brims and fabric covering the neck), with prices below 100,000 Vietnamese dong per piece, or imported high-end hats priced around 250,000 to 450,000 Vietnamese dong per piece (with added whistles and adjustable straps for a better fit).

Shoes and sandals also require attention. For the beach, foam flip-flops are recommended, while for strolling, options include ballet flats, sandals, and flip-flops. For hiking, sports shoes are suitable. The market offers a variety of products, from locally made items to high-end brands such as Biti's, Kappa, Reebok, Vans, MLB, Adidas, Nike, Converse... Prices range from 89,000 Vietnamese dong to several million dong per pair, depending on the type. In addition, backpacks, handbags, and suitcases are also popular choices. For the summer season, bag brands like Lock&Lock, Charles&Keith, Aldo, Pedro, Vascara, LYN, Mochardo, Juno... introduce a diverse range of bag styles with vibrant colors and summer patterns, with prices ranging from hundreds of thousands to several million Vietnamese dong per piece, depending on the type. Sunglasses are also a fashionable accessory that women purchase to complement their summer outfits.

Sunscreen is an essential item. The market offers a wide range of sunscreen products, from domestic to imported brands, catering to different skin types and purposes. Popular brands like Sunplay, Nivea, Bioré, Neutrogena, L'Oreal, Shiseido, The Faceshop, Vichy, Anessa, Avène, Shiseido, Laneige... offer sunscreen creams, serums, lotions, gels, and sprays with SPF 35, 50, 100, at an average price ranging from 53,000 to over 1 million Vietnamese dong per tube (25-50ml). Apart from focusing on SPF levels, women now also look for products that are oil-free and resistant to smudging. Additionally, many people use sunscreen pills. Most of the products available in the Vietnamese market are imported from countries like Japan, the United States, and Germany, with brands such as DHC, Sakura, Be Max The Sun, Uv Fine, Caroti, Murad, priced from 350,000 to 1,450,000 Vietnamese dong per package of 30 or 60 pills, depending on the type. For children, brands like Johnson&Johnson, Pigeon, Sunplay, Nivea, Vichy, Avène, Suave Kids, L'Oreal Kids, Gerber, Huggies, Cetaphil... offer options starting from 85,000 Vietnamese dong per product.

In addition to purchasing from stores and supermarkets, many women also choose to shop online through e-commerce platforms and social media. According to explanations, aside from the convenience, online shopping offers a wider range of brands and styles. However, it is advised that when shopping online, women should choose reputable sellers and have clear information about the products.
