According to the plan, Can Tho city will implement tourism recovery activities, including checking and making a list of the workforce who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the tourism sector to have a basis for allocating vaccines; implement policies to support businesses and employees in the tourism industry.

Strengthening and improving professional skills for the workforce in the tourism industry; taking part in the 17th Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival in 2021 in an online format; organizing Can Tho Online Tourism Fair in 2021, etc.

Remarkably, the city will organize a pilot program for safe tourism through sightseeing programs at tourist sites and attractions in Ninh Kieu, Binh Thuy, Cai Rang, and Phong Dien districts for tourists eligible for traveling. Based on this program, the City People’s Committee will expand tourism to the whole city, gradually restore tourism activities after a long period of “hibernation”.

Can Tho also plans to stimulate tourism demand in 2022 under the "new normal" conditions, including developing a variety of products that meet new market trends.

Specifically, the city will organize a survey and an assessment of the development orientation of various types of sustainable tourism products, safe tourism, eco-tourism associated with health protection. These activities are in accordance with the comprehensive plan for the development of the city’s tourism.

In addition, the city will attract investment in developing tourism products to meet the diverse changing needs of the market such as night economic products and services, culinary tourism, agricultural tourism, eco-tourism, and MICE tourism (tourism associated with conferences, seminars, exhibitions), etc.

To implement this plan, the Municipal People's Committee of Can Tho asked the People's Committees of Districts to encourage local people to participate in providing tourism services, express an open, friendly attitude, welcome and help visitors when they come to visit local tourist sites and attractions. At the same time, the People Committees of districts also coordinate with the city's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and relevant units in inspecting and managing tourism activities in the area, ensuring safety in the prevention of the COVID-19 pandemic.
