At the meeting, Mr. Tran Viet Truong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho city, discussed with KOAECA about orientations for cooperation in the fields of tourism, investment in logistics and seaport infrastructure, aviation, and hi-tech agriculture, especially logistics and agriculture-farm processing projects that Can Tho is going to implement in the coming time. Chairman Tran Viet Truong said that Can Tho city is currently preparing to invest in many projects and draft projects namely a logistics center for linkage, production, processing, and consumption of agricultural products in the region, which will cover an area of 3,300 ha; a 1,000-ha airport city; a grade-II logistics center, which will cover 242 ha of land in Cai Cui port, Cai Rang district.

Regarding the potential cooperation between the two sides, Chairman Tran Viet Truong said that the Republic of Korea is a major investor in Vietnam in general and Can Tho city in particular. According to the report, Can Tho is home to 14 investment projects from the Republic of Korea in the fields of production and trade with a total registered capital of 261 million USD.

Chairman Tran Viet Truong suggested KOAECA promote the city’s image and invite Korean businesses to research, survey, and invest in Can Tho city in the fields of high-tech industry, logistics, commerce, and smart cities, thereby helping Can Tho accelerate its development. Leaders of Can Tho city will create favorable conditions for Korean investors.

Mr. Lee Nam Kee, Chairman of KOAECA expressed his thanks for the warm welcome of Can Tho city’s leaders. During his business trip to Can Tho, Mr. Lee Nam Kee highly appreciated Can Tho city's potential and wished to cooperate closely with Can Tho in agriculture, logistics and seaports, and aviation and tourism. Additionally, Mr. Lee Nam Kee will make efforts to introduce Korean investors in accordance with Can Tho city’s demands and promote cooperation connections between the Republic of Korea and Can Tho city.

On this occasion, the Department of Planning and Investment of Can Tho City signed a memorandum of understanding with KOAECA on trade promotion, exchange of information on the investment research cooperation in the near future; exchange of information on experience in developing socio-economic planning to serve the proposal of building investment projects in the city; and support to solve difficulties for businesses and projects in the city in terms of finance, investment, production, and business.
