Can Tho city’s leaders received Fujitsu Corporation from Japan

On the afternoon of July 1st, Mr. Duong Tan Hien, Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho city had a working session with Fujitsu Group from Japan regarding the project of building and implementing land information management system in Can Tho city.

In July 2021, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Can Tho city and Fujitsu Vietnam Co., Ltd signed a Memorandum of Understanding to pilot a land management system project in Can Tho city. Up to now, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Can Tho city and Fujitsu Vietnam Co., Ltd. have coordinated to carry out a number of activities such as surveying the current status of the land database in Vinh Thanh district; organizing a workshop on “Orientation and proposal of plans to improve and upgrade the land management system in Can Tho city and share Japan's land management experience”.

At the working session, Mr. Hiroyuki Tsutsumi, representative of Fujitsu Group, wishes to embark on specific works to concretize the signed memorandum and proposes to establish a Working Group to promote digital transformation in the land sector in Can Tho city. According to Mr. Nguyen Chi Kien, Deputy Director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Can Tho city, Fujitsu Vietnam Co., Ltd and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment need to coordinate to re-evaluate the current status of the land database of Can Tho city to give a suitable conversion direction. After the two sides agree on the plan, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Can Tho city will consult the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to agree on how to implement the project, then propose to the Government to apply for ODA support from the Japanese government.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Duong Tan Hien, Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho city, said that Can Tho city was working with the whole nation to promote digital transformation activities, especially in the field of natural resources and environment. Regarding the Memorandum of Understanding between the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Can Tho city and Fujitsu Vietnam Co., Ltd., Vice Chairman Duong Tan Hien emphasized three issues that need to be focused on in the coming time namely building a project, obtaining ODA funding from the Japanese Government, and then the two sides would coordinate to implement the project. During the project implementation period, a working team would be established to manage the project implementation. Mr. Duong Tan Hien also expressed his hope that the project of building a modern land information management system would soon be implemented in Can Tho city in the near future to effectively serve land management and promote the digital transformation of the Natural Resources and the Environment sector of the city.
