In recent years, Can Tho city has received the support of the Australian Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City through the Direct Assistance Program (DAP) in providing clean water to rural areas and building rural bridges, etc. These projects bring practical effects, contributing to Can Tho city's socio-economic development, narrowing the gap between rural and urban areas, Chairman Tran Viet Truong said.
In the coming time, Chairman Tran Viet Truong hopes to receive support from the Australian Government in promoting the image and potential of Can Tho city as well as calling for investment from Australian investors. Moreover, he also wishes to boost trade with Australia by exporting strong products of the city such as garments, footwear, agricultural and aquatic products.
Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Robyn Mudie thanked Can Tho city’s leaders for the warm welcome and expressed joy on her second business trip to the capital of Mekong Delta. She highly appreciated the cooperation activities between Australia and Can Tho city in recent years, especially in key areas such as climate change, education, agriculture, etc.
Ambassador Robyn Mudie hopes that Can Tho city and Australia will join hands to celebrate the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Australia in 2023.
