This is one of a series of events at the 16th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Environment (AMME), hosted by Indonesia.
The 5th ASEAN ESC Award Presentation Ceremony and the 4th ASEAN certificates of recognition are held both online and offline. Specifically, 10 cities wins the ASEAN Environmentally Sustainable City (ESC) Award and 13 other cities are awarded the ASEAN certificates of recognition at this ceremony. Can Tho city is one of 10 honorable cities in 10 ASEAN countries to receive this award. Particularly, Ninh Binh city is awarded the ASEAN certificates of recognition in the field of clean water.
The Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia receives the 5th ASEAN Environmentally Sustainable City (ESC) Award.
The 5th ASEAN Environmentally Sustainable City (ESC) Award and the 4th ASEAN certificates of recognition are among the ASEAN's cooperation programs under the coordination of the ASEAN Working Group on Environmentally Sustainable Cities (AWGESC). These programs aim to encourage the sustainable development of cities in ASEAN by recognizing and appreciating cities that have carried out various initiatives and efforts to build green and clean cities.
Mr. Nguyen Thuc Hien, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho city, attended the 5th ASEAN ESC Award Presentation Ceremony and the 4th ASEAN certificates of recognition at the People's Committee of Can Tho city.
The ASEAN Environmentally Sustainable City (ESC) Award is held every three years, starting from 2008. In 2011, a new award named the ASEAN Certificates of Recognition for Clean Air, Clean Water, and Clean Land.
