Can Tho: 25,000 young volunteers to participate in the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign 2024

On June 2, Can Tho Youth Union coordinated with relevant units to organize the launching ceremony of the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign 2024 at Luu Huu Phuoc Park in Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City.
Mr. Tran Viet Truong, Deputy Secretary of Can Tho City Party Committee, Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee, handed over the flag to the Secretary of Can Tho Youth Union to launch the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign 2024.

The event had the participation of Mr. Tran Viet Truong, Deputy Secretary of Can Tho City Party Committee, Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee; leaders of Can Tho City Party Committee, Can Tho City People’s Council, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho city; representatives of departments, agencies in Can Tho City as well as 2,000 young people, youth union members and students.

During the ceremony, Standing Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Duong Tan Hien highlighted the significant impact of the youth projects implemented by Can Tho City Youth Union at all levels in recent years. He particularly emphasized the success of the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign, which has attracted a large number of young participants and has made valuable contributions to the socio-economic development of the city. The official urged for the efficient organization of the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign, focusing on impactful activities that would raise awareness within the community. He called for unity among the Youth Union members, young people, and students to participate actively in projects and tasks with a focus on addressing challenges faced by the youth in the area. Additionally, he encouraged the organization of activities involving children and the community, such as clean-up campaigns, tree planting, waste collection and treatment projects.

Standing Vice Chairman Duong Tan Hien also stressed the importance of promoting effective models for land restoration and drought prevention, recognizing and rewarding outstanding contributions to environmental protection initiatives, and responding to climate change to safeguard the country's resources.

Mr. Duong Tan Hien, Member of the Standing Committee of Can Tho City Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee, presented gifts and scholarships to poor students striving to overcome difficulties to study well.

On this occasion, Can Tho City Youth Union launched 10 specialized squads for their campaigns and donated 178 scholarships, 20 bicycles, and many gifts to students in difficult circumstances in the city.

With support from organizations and businesses, Can Tho Youth Union launched the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign 2024.

Children played outdoor games within the framework of the “Children Protecting the Environment” event at the launching ceremony of the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign 2024.

After the launching ceremony, Can Tho Youth Union and related agencies joined hands to plant trees and clean the streets. They also participated in the “Children Protecting the Environment” Festival, which included exchanging trash for gifts, contests, and games at more than 40 booths. According to the Standing Committee of Can Tho Youth Union, the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign will occur from June to the end of August 2024. The event aims at mobilizing 25,000 youth union members and young people to participate in volunteer activities organized by Can Tho Youth Union. These activities include building new streets and new charity houses. They also aim to replant trees; repair and build at least 25km of rural roads; support the development of 80 ideas and initiatives of youth union members; provide start-up training courses and digital transformation classes for young people; support 10 creative start-up projects and provide career and employment consulting for at least 15,000 union members and students while introducing jobs to at least 2,000 young people.
